Respect for the land.
Since 1846.
The Tinedo Estate is ideal for sustainable viticulture, which is how we have always done it, without using herbicides or synthetic products, and carrying out soil conservation practices and efficient water management. 48 hectares dedicated to terroir wines.
By working this way, we achieve balanced and complex wines, allowing the vineyard to complete its biological cycle. We preserve the qualities of the estate for future generations and, in a modest but sincere way, we cooperate with sustainable development goals.
Through our sustainable viticulture, we maintain rich biodiversity that helps to balance the vineyard ecosystem and keep pests and diseases under control. We also facilitate the growth and diversity of the yeasts responsible for fermentation, thus ensuring the entire fermentation process is carried out using natural yeasts.
Keeping the vineyard ecosystem healthy and balanced in a natural way enhances its ability to transfer the qualities of the terroir to the grapes, which is what defines the nature of our single-estate and single-plot wines.
As we also believe in responsible energy use, all the energy needed to run the winery comes from our own solar panels: zero-emission energy.
All our wines are made from Tinedo Estate grapes, all of which are certified organic by the EU.

CLIMATE
The weather is dry continental (14.0 ºC, 480mm). At the end of spring, beginning of the summer, budding and flowering take place; the vine gets a lot of strength from the water reserves in the soil and produces thick-skinned fruits full of colour and nice tannin.
In July and August, the grapes fatten and change colour (veraison – the start of sugar production): the days are hot (34ºC) and the nights are cool (16ºC), with little rainfall (13mm/month) which makes the vines slow their growth and have an early maturation.
Ripening of the grapes varies according to the type of vine and the work done on it. In September the days are still warm (20ºC on average night/day); in October it is much cooler (14ºC). This will assure the wines always have enough alcohol, and through a slow maturity process, a highly complex aroma will be achieved.
SOILS
The Tinedo estate has gently rolling land with elevations of around 700m. The main soil type is the result of the decomposition of limestone marl of marine origin, which has gradually lost the limestone layer first and the clay later, leaving a sandy surface.
These soils are easy to work, without resorting to herbicides, and have good reserves of water even in dry periods. The wines are concentrated with good tannins.
The other type of soil is a more recent river alluvium, which covers the aforementioned soils. The alluvial deposits are rich in limestone clay and siliceous gravel.
The recent alluvium (lower terraces) is strong and difficult to work on. Built on this are the winery, the garden, and a small plantation of white grapevines, which appreciate this strength.
The older alluvium (high terraces) has weathered, leaving the gravel and sand on the surface and the clay and limestone underneath. The wines are floral with fresh tannin, as a result of the influence of acidic siliceous gravel from the surface.
